Michael Jongeneel

With over 10 years in the industry, largely with Flow, Michael is experienced in both traffic engineering and transport planning. He is well versed in the use of a number of traffic modelling packages including SATURN, AIMSUN, TRANSYT and SIDRA, and has used these skills in several complex projects including the City Rail Link, the Auckland Cycling Programme Business Case and as part of Auckland’s Supporting Growth alliance. Michael regularly undertakes transport assessments for a wide range of public and private developments, and has significant experience in road safety research and economic evaluations.

One of the most memorable projects for Michael during his time at Flow has been the development of a cycle demand model used to assess future cyclist demands for a number of cycling projects and programmes across Auckland. The project was a unique and collaborative project requiring complex problem solving, adaptive reuse of existing technology, and was highly rewarding.

While studying for his masters in 2010, Michael worked part time at Flow but elected to stay on because, “Flow clearly stood out from other consultancies and had a reputation for having the highest standards in the industry. In the years since, I have not been disappointed”
