Overview

The Northern Corridor Improvements Project

This project forms part of what the former National Government referred to as the ”Auckland Accelerated Projects”.

The project will provide significant additional road capacity at the north-eastern termination of the Western Ring Route, in the vicinity of the interchange of the Northern Motorway (State Highway 1) and the Upper Harbour Motorway (State Highway 18). It also includes the extension of the Northern Busway from the Constellation station to the Albany station, plus the provision of various walking and cycling links.

Flow was responsible for the transport planning and transport modelling of the project from the assessment of a range of options in 2013 right through to the provision of expert evidence to the public hearings in 2017.

The Board of Inquiry approved the project in November 2017 and construction is now underway. More details of the project can be found here:

The project requires the relocation of the North Harbour Hockey stadium from its existing site off Paul Matthews Road. Flow had significant involvement in the planning of the relocation to a new site off Bush Road, still within the North Harbour Industrial Area, and construction is  ongoing.
