The Northern Corridor Improvements Project. Flow was responsible for the transport planning and transport modelling of this project, which will provide significant additional road capacity at the north-eastern termination of the Western Ring Route, in the vicinity of the interchange of the Northern Motorway (State Highway 1) and the Upper Harbour Motorway (State Highway 18). It also includes the extension of the Northern Busway from the Constellation station to the Albany station, plus the provision of various walking and cycling links.
Read MoreThe City Rail Link is one of Auckland Council and Auckland Transport’s highest priority transport infrastructure projects. It is a proposed 3.4 km underground passenger railway, running between the Britomart Station and the North Auckland railway lines. The link will remove the current bottleneck in the rail system at Britomart and, by providing new stations within the city centre, will open up the potential for significant increases in the use of rail in Auckland. Flow has been assisting Auckland Transport with the planning phase of this critical project.
Auckland Harbour Bridge Shared Path.
The existing Auckland Harbour Bridge carries only motorised traffic across the Waitemata Harbour, and as a result, individuals travelling between the North Shore and central Auckland are forced to either drive or catch public transport. This project – the successor to the privately proposed SkyPath project – proposes attaching an independent structure to the existing bridge piers to provide a shared use, walking and cycling facility.

This Wynyard Quarter site and planned development is unique in Auckland, in terms of its size, its proximity to the city centre and its prime waterfront location. It is surrounded by water on three sides, with a major arterial route and the final leg of the Northern Busway on the fourth side. These situational advantages make the area very attractive for intensive use but also present very significant challenges in terms of accessibility.
