In recognition of the strategically vital passenger transport future of the Great North Road corridor, it has been given a passenger transport emphasis in the Liveable Arterials Plan. Flow developed high level concepts for the Great North Road corridor for the next 20 years.
These concepts reflect an anticipation of permanent 24 hour bus lanes, with the exception of the sections through town centres. Through a process of synthesis all desired outcomes were translated into a series of clear spatial demands for the arterial corridor. The overlay of demands created three distinct planning ‘sections’ along this corridor.
