"Let our children teach us -  Children as agents of change"

“We don't inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children”
David Ross Brower (1912 –2000)

Children have the most to lose from the effects of unsustainable transport choices. They therefore have the most to gain by changing not only their own, but their parents’ choices towards more sustainable modes of transport. In this workshop, Educating NZ will look at ways to use school children as agents of change to promote sustainable transport choices to their families and communities.

We’ll see how the New Zealand Curriculum offers opportunities to incorporate sustainable transport into teaching and learning. We’ll explore the mutual benefits that road safety and sustainable transport education offer each other.

The workshop will include an overview of several initiatives that Educating NZ has developed that use the ‘children as agents of change’ concept. Adopting this approach will help spread the sustainable transport message to our community, and so help us to give back the earth to our children in good shape.
