Laura Hirst (Auckland City Council)"Neighbourhood accessibility plans, effective part of the TDM mix?" Neighbourhood accessibility plans (NAPs) as defined by LTNZ, have developed from the safer routes trials; the evaluation reports of those projects were completed mid 2007. The RLTS has a target of 18 NAPs by 2016. The aim of the projects is to give safe access to active and shared transport users of all ages in neighbourhood areas. This paper will focus on how in theory the Community, (non-transport professionals), in a priority town centre (in Auckland) where NAPs are likely to succeed, are enabled to influence and improve access by active modes to their neighbourhood. The presentation will refer to the direct experience of the investigation phase of NAP in the Auckland City Council area. It will also explore the place of NAPs in the TDM mix and their cost effectiveness. Back to the conference webpage. |
