During 2007/ 2008 Flow developed a SATURN traffic model for the western half of the Auckland CBD, for Auckland City Council.
The base model was validated to 2006 conditions, and future models have been developed for the year 2021, taking into account the likely completion of significant investment in transport, changes in land uses within the CBD and the likely changes in travel behaviour.
The model has been developed with a significant level of detail. It includes bus lanes, with bus routes assigned to these lanes, along with the effects of pedestrian crossings at the signalised intersections.
The model was used as the main tool to evaluate the impacts of the proposed development of the Wynyard Quarter and it has been used for a number of other projects, such as the assessment of the proposed Te Wero Bridge.
