Careers

We are a young company and have grown to a total of thirteen staff within 6 years.  We are looking to grow further and would be interested in hearing from people from all backgrounds with enthusiasm and passion for transport planning, traffic engineering, transport demand management and travel planning.

Why join Flow Transportation Specialists?

We have managed to secure a wide variety of interesting and challenging projects and have established a reputation as an emerging force in transport planning and traffic engineering. Our base is in Ponsonby, Central Auckland and most of our work is in the Auckland region, but we have undertaken projects throughout New Zealand, from Paihia in Northland through to Queenstown in the South Island.

We are committed to ensuring our staff can enjoy:

  • a stimulating, dynamic and progressive working environment,
  • a wide variety of projects,
  • suitable training, continuing professional development and individual coaching, and
  • an attractive salary package with flexible working hours.
Just as important, we are committed to ensuring that staff can achieve a satisfactory balance between work and home life.

Why come to Auckland?

Auckland provides a home to approximately one third of New Zealand’s population, which currently stands at just over 4 million. It therefore offers an unusual combination of a vibrant city life, surrounded by an unspoiled hinterland of unrivalled beauty.

The Auckland Region has suffered from under funding in transportation for some time, and the natural features that make it a pleasant place to live (such as extensive coastlines, large harbours and volcanic cones) act as barriers to accessibility. As a result, the pressures of a rapidly increasing population offer a variety of challenges for transport planners, such as:

  • there is an increasing understanding that we cannot build our way out of congestion and significant proposals are afoot to improve the passenger transport network,
  • there is a growing awareness of the potential benefits of travel demand management measures, and of techniques that can reduce the demand for travel by transport and land use integration,
  • there are also plans for significant improvements to the road network.
