Karl is an Associate Transport Engineer with Flow and has ten years’ experience and has established himself as a specialist traffic and transportation engineer. Many of the projects that Karl has worked on have involved designing for pedestrians, cyclists and public transport users. Having trained in the consultancy environments, he has been involved in the full spectrum of traffic and transportation engineering projects for both the private and public sectors ranging from council planning, analysis and reporting to private development traffic assessments requiring option testing and computer modelling analysis.
Karl is a valued engineer, well respected by both public and private clients. He is regarded as an engineer who seeks to find cost efficient solutions to transport safety and capacity issues. Karl has been called on to present expert evidence at Council hearings as well as asked by Council to represent their traffic engineering concerns in similar settings.
Karl has been involved in a number of corridor studies, many of which have had a strong urban design element. Recently Karl was part of the multi disciplinary team undertaking corridor management plans for Great North Road, New North Road, Blockhouse Bay Road and Selwyn Street. Karl provided traffic and transportation input into the process, attending a number of workshops in helping to define the role of each corridor and assessing solutions.
Karl has also undertaken
corridor studies of Ellerslie Panmure Highway,
reviewing the feasibility of bus priority; Clear Routes – CBD to Airport to determine long and short term improvements to the corridor;
Glen Innes Town Centre to identify walking and cycling improvements,
Kingsland Village to review possible urban design changes and the impact of these on traffic movements,
Queen Street Streetscapes Upgrade project.
He is also regularly called on to provide assistance to Council in reviewing consent applications with respect to Council policies and traffic and transportation issues.
