Community InvolvementLife FlightFlow is a Mission Partner with Life Flight. Life Flight fly approximately 1,500 people every year and respond to around four emergencies everyday. They provide the local Westpac Rescue Helicopter which ensures that rescues can be acheived when pople are out tramping, boating or in road accidents. Life Flight also provide an intensive care air ambulance service transferring critically ill patients including children and premature babies to the specialist care they require. Cancer SocietyFlow regularly contributes to the Cancer Society. The Cancer Society operates Domain Lodge which is a purpose built motel for patients from out of town to stay while undergoing treatments for cancer at various Auckland Hospitals. We also emply 12 oncology nurses who will visit patients and their families in their homes to provide access to information, transport, meals and other related services - counselling, support groups, the Cancer library at Domain Lodge and aromatherapy massages. The Cancer Society also supoort the Cancer Society Research Centre where the team of around 80 technicians, scientists and chemists work to minimise the effect of a cancer diagnosis. The Cancer Society is the largest private funder if research into the causs and treatments for cancer in New Zealand. Coastguard Northern RegionFlow makes an annual donation to the Coastguard Northern Region. They are based at the Auckland Rescue Centre in Mechanics Bay, Auckland. Teams of volunteers at the Centre monitor calls in the Radio Operations Room, crew the rescue vehicles and air patrol, or control search and rescue incidents when they occur. In addition to this they accepts trip reports, install and amintain buoys and beacons, provide 24hour continuous weather forcasts, install and maintaint VHF radio repeaters and provide a range of boating education courses. |
